The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Miami Marlins meet in game two of their three game set in MLB action from Marlins Park on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to stay hot after winning three straight and eight of nine following a 15-1 beatdown in the series opener on Tuesday. Matt Beaty went 2 for 5 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs while Will Smith had a pair of homers and three RBIs. Justin Turner and Corey Seager each had a home run and two RBIs while Cody Bellinger added a solo home run. Kyle Garlick and Max Muncy each had a double and an RBI while A.J. Pollock went 3 for 3 with a trio of doubles. Caleb Ferguson had a double as well while Kristopher Negron added a base hit as well to finish off L.A.’s offense as a team in the victory. Dustin May picked up his first major league victory, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Clayton Kershaw will start game two and is 11-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 131 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kershaw is 5-5 with a 2.55 ERA and 92 strikeouts against Miami.

The Miami Marlins will look to rebound after being dismantled in the series opener on Tuesday. Brian Anderson had an RBI and a double while Jon Berti, Garrett Cooper and Lewis Brinson each contributed a base hit as Miami mustered up just four hits as a team in the losing effort. Jordan Yamamoto took the loss, falling to 4-4 on the year after allowing four runs on four hits over five innings of work. Elieser Hernandez will start game two and is 2-4 with a 4.94 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. This will be Hernandez’s second career start against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 42-9 in Kershaw’s last 51 starts against the NL East and 38-15 in their last 53 games against the NL East while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 game two matchups. Miami is 4-9 in Hernandez’s last 13 starts and 2-10 in their last 12 games overall while the over is 7-0-1 in their last 8 home games. Los Angeles is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Miami.

L.A. kinda switched things up on us by inserting May in for Tuesday’s start and pushing Kershaw back a day, but I was backing the Dodgers on the RL yesterday, and one day later, that’s not going to change. You have a Dodgers team that’s tearing the cover off of the ball going up against a Marlins team that struggles to put runs on the board more often than not, and are sending a pitcher in Hernandez to the mound after giving up four runs in less than an inning of relief against these same Dodgers less than a month ago. Kershaw is back the being the ace type pitcher we’ve become accustomed to seeing over the years, and going up against a struggling Marlins team will only help his cause. Give me the Dodgers and the RL here to get the price down a little bit.

Pick:
Los Angeles Dodgers: -1.5 (-155)
